Individual dental insurance is full coverage dental insurance that can be purchased through the A.T. Group for an individual or a family. In many cases, an employer may not provide dental insurance or a self-employed person may be in need of dental insurance. Individual dental plans provide a way for you to obtain dental insurance outside of your employer.
If you currently have a dental provider, you want to find out what network that dentist participates in. If you’re not sure, most dental insurances have a way for you to view the dental providers participating in their network. You definitely want to make sure your dentist is in the network of the dental insurance you are considering. If your dentist is not in the network, you most likely will have to pay out-of-network cost, which is much higher than if you were seeing an in-network dentist.
While shopping for an individual dental plan, be sure and compare the benefits they are offering to make sure you find exactly what you need. This can include, but is not limited to:
- Waiting Periods
- Yearly Maximums
- Covered Procedures
- Additional Benefits
